:( Ok...i've seen some info on here before as to where you can pick up some flexwatt...but after about 3 days of searching...i give up....where do you get it...ive tried 3 different home depots (including one over an hour north from my town in hendersonville, nc)and 2 lowes...plus numerous hardware stores.... basically... they all say..this is SC....its 70-80 degrees out...who would need that...? i saw that you can supposedly get it from helix...but thats in CA, and i want it asap...any suggestions?

I have never found it for sale at a normal retail outlet. It is available from Helix at a very reasonable price, but I personally use The Bean Farm. (Great customer service) If you need it ASAP, you are out of luck unless you are willing to pay for overnight shipping.

Helpful info:

1. Get the wiring supplies from Lowes or Home Depot (it is much cheaper).

2. I don't recommend the fancy Flexwatt clips. Soldering is much easier to use and lasts longer.

3. I highly recommend that you order extra Flexwatt, just in case you forget the "measure twice, cut once" rule. ;)

woohoo

got on beansfarm and ordered it just a few minutes ago...probably wont get it as quick as i want..but it was cheaper than helix...thanks

pinatamonkey,

I use 3" on the racks. There is nothing wrong with the 11" but it has a higher per foot/wattage and can cut down the amount that can be controlled with one thermostat. (most of the commercial units are limited to 500 watts) This isn't really an issue if you only have a single rack.

Ummm...you can also order it directly from the company that makes it: Calorique.

You have to call them to order, and you have to buy it in bulk. I believe the 4" tape is around $2.05 a foot but you have to buy 100 feet of it.

They also have a special crimping tool for attaching the clips to the heat tape. It used to run around $35.00.
