Caught a wild corn snake

I have been researching and going through the process of buying a snake (corn snakes being among the top choices) when I found one in my garage! He's only probably a little over 20 inches, and is a very pretty Okeetee type coloring. It works out perfectly because I already had ordered everything I needed and was even set up. The setup I have is a 10 gallon tank with secure fitting clamped on cover (I also put one of my guitar amps on top LOL for extra security, more for me than him) and inside I have coconut bedding, a habi-scape rock water bowl, and 2 coconut huts (although he seems more content curling up in the bedding). I also have a heater and a thermometer (it's about 80 in the tank). I was just wondering if there's anything else I need or should be concerned about since he was wild caught? And when should I first try to feed him a pinky? Thanks a lot and if there's anything I'm missing please tell me!

at that size he should eat fuzzies and wild caght hav probs like prasites and dont become very docile. but you could still keep it with out a problem :crazy02: :crazy02: that is good timing

Congratulations
I would have him vet checked for parasites, but at only 20" long , there's a good chance he'll adapt well to captivity. Most corns that size do calm down, some don't.
Post a pic if you can

Thanks! I guess he's more of just a normal coloring LOL but he's still really pretty to me!

Hope the pics work... ah my bad, they were too large filesize. Trying again!
I also wanted to add that he's pretty docile, he wasn't too squirmy and didn't try to bite me when I caught him!

What luck, eh? :) Nice snake.

I'd give him a few days to settle in, then try to feed him a small pink for the first few meals just to be sure it's all good. Also, a vet visit would be a good idea, at the very least to get a fecal done to see if he has anything you'll need to treat.

Oh, and, you don't plan to leave that amp up there when you play, do you? ;) Poor guy probably wouldn't like that!

Thanks a lot everyone! I am using coconut bark substrate, it's pretty easy it comes in a huge block and you tear it apart heh. I have never heard of any herpetological vet around here, if anyone knows about any in the northern, Gulf coast portion of the southern region (Sarasota) in Florida that'd be great :) . Right now he is curled up in a coconut hut (seem a bit obsessive with coconuts? Trust me it wasn't planned... haha) but seems to prefer the cooler end of the cage eventhough that end is in the high 70's and his other larger hut more around 80. Ah well.

Haha, yeah no guitar playing by the snake :D
