Cheap Bedding!!

Peace F'kers!
Hey Guys -n- Gals!! I found a cheap source for Pine and Aspen, just don't know if you peeps in the U.S. have a TSC store. I'm in Ontario Canada and TSC (farm type store) has Pine ( for my ASF's ) at $5.95 for a 78L bail, and Aspen at $15.00 for a 113L Bail. The 95L Aspen at Petsmart is $34.00! This is the cheapest i've found so far around here, if someone has info to add on where its cheaper please pass it along to me. Peace!

Nice! But is it shredded (finer) or chipped aspen? Chipped is loads cheaper ANYWHERE.

Also, maybe switch the ASFs to the aspen if it's that cheap? My norways got RIs on a pine/fir/spruce mix, but are clearing up now that they're on aspen.

About the Aspen for the AFS... I've read so many posts going back n forth on the topic that everyone seams to find that trial and error works best, my groups only go about 10 months on the pine before the new breeders are producing and the older moms n dads get fed off or sold. I drop a bit of Aspen in the tubs when mom pops for some extra nesting and i've not seen an issue yet.. yet! I keep the old rack ( Building a new bigger one, see post in feeders section ) in the basement untill i can insulate the shed, so to keep the smell down ( and my wife happy ) the bins get cleaned and washed every Saturday thus helping with any RI's due to smell n such. Thanks for the responce. Peace!

Never use Pine shavings its harmful to your snake use aspen but the absolute cheapest substrate has got to be Cypress Mulch you can buy a 20 pound bag for like a $1.50 at Walmart, doesnt get much cheaper than that!:crazy02::crazy02::crazy02:

well I decided to give the aspen bedding from petco a try...will be cleaning out the big viv and using it in there first (since she is the biggest snake I have currently, 336g)
