Cheapest Frozen Feeders (Non-Bulk)

We currently have one Cornsnake and do not have the space nor money to buy frozen feeder mice in bulk. We may consider buying bulk at a very good cost, however. We are currently using Arctic Mice, but at $12 for 4 Large Mice, it really adds up.

What are some cheaper frozen feeder mice without sacrificing on quality? Which site do you frequent for your feed needs?

Thank you in advance!

Ordering for a year supply of mice for 1 corn snake takes up a large zip lock bag of space. So it really does take up that much more room. I would shop around. Some places may charge more per mouse but their shipping maybe cheaper. I use to use Rodent Pro but it looks like they stopped shipping though greyhound and when I order in bulk I am buying at least 500 mice so it would cost me a lot of money.

Some of the most common rodent supplies that people use are:

www.rodentpro.com
www.laynelabs.com

I would go to one of your local expos, or find a local rodent breeder. If you're only ordering for one snake I am not sure if the cost of shipping will save you any money unless you do buy in bulk. I don't order my mice though, so others probably have more experience!

You do still save money even with just one snake. Cause to order 50 mice (2 weeks shy of a full year) with shipping is about $73. Which does hurt to pay the large amount all at once but with buying the arctic mice for one year, you are looking at $144.

However, Alicat is right to check local expos. Most of the time these large rodent supply places go to the expos and you can get their cheaper prices without shipping.

Check local shows for sure. American Rodent doesn't charge shipping in some states...check yours!

I will be sure to check out American Rodent!

As for expos, there aren't even decent herp vets in this area. I would have to drive long ways to visit an expo. It would be worth it as a fun trip, but for feeders, more difficult. I will be sure to check out the sites posted here, thanks! :D

Unfortunately, where I live American Rodent charges for shipping. Their shipping doesn't seem too expensive, but there is a minimum order of $100. I may stick to pet store mice, seeing as I have only one snake to feed. I may browse some more, however. Thanks for all the comments!

Does anyone feel safe keeping frozen mice for a year? I was under the impression that 6 months was the max.

I have had some in my freezer for over a year now. The pinkies do have freezer burn on them and the hairy mice look good.

I picked up a corn hatchling on Sunday and fed her on Monday and she did not mind a little freezer burn.

That is a great to know! :) If I do order bulk, they will be in my freezer for awhile.

If you're in TX, Big Cheese is located there and you might get a cheaper shipping quote. When I was living in Killeen, I had BC ship some mice to me and it was pretty reasonable and I think I got the longer shipping option because it was cheaper and it still only took 2 days to get to me.

Expos are definitely your best option though. Or, if you can find a small local pet shop they might have cheaper feeders there too.

Ive done business with them since Ive had snakes, ordering from them several times. No problems ever and found their customer service to be excellent! But everyone has different experiences with businesses.
