Checkered Pattern?

I have read that Okeetee corns are the only ones with the distinct black/white pattern on their underbelly, but Apollo is not as red as most Okeetees are.

I wanted to get everything straight. Online pictures and descriptions have not really been much of a help. Like I said, his black borders are thinner, and he isn't as red. The other closest coloring are the Miami's, but he doesn't have the silver.

Thanks in advance. :)

o.o I am not sure I understand what you're asking, but all my corns have checkered bellies other than my tessera and motley, and I don't have any okeetees.

Eh, I didn't explain very well.

My apologies.

I suppose I wanted to know what Apollo is. It has been driving me nuts. He isn't as red as an okeetee, but doesn't have the silver of a miami. Is there anything close to either. His picture is my avatar, if that helps. I've gone through books and online albums trying to determine what he is, but none of the pictures resemble him closely. Could he be a cross bred color?

From what my poor eyes can make out from your avatar, Apollo is a nice classic (aka: wild-type, normal) corn snake. The range of coloration varies quite a bit. Okeetee phase and Miami phase are both "extremes" of coloration normally found in corn snakes.

Here are some examples of classic (normal/wild-type) corn snakes showing just how much they can vary:

Also keep in mind that your snake is a baby. He's going to change color a LOT as he grows up! Make sure to take lots of piccies.

Actually, Apollo is 7 or 8 years old, I forget which it was exactly that I read in another post by the OP.

Well, that just proves I need new glasses and my eyes be getting old! I thought the avatar was a hatchling pic around a thumb, not an arm. XD

Thanks so much! I had no idea the colors varied so much. Most people take photos of the gorgeous red ones, which is why I had such difficulty deciphering what he was!

Apollo is about 8 years old. :)
