citron or citrine?

pgr8dnlvr

An obsolete oldie...
OK, I'll bite, three times in the last month I've had people inquiring if I know of or can get them Citron or citrine corns? I've done a search on here, and can't seem to find a definition on what they are or what people think they are.

I was thinking that it had to be something to do with the "mandarin" morph in europe, but then it seems someone filled in a genetic calculator using two morphs that I had available and it came up that citrons were a possible outcome in breeding f2's? I think it was involving lavender and caramel?!? huh?

Can anyone help me out here?

Thanks,
Rebecca

These have been bred for the last two years and were named this year by Stephen Sharp snakebreeder.com, from a pair of hypo butters.

Were the hypo butters het for Anery then, because a Citrine is Amel Anery Caramel Hypo

Thank you for the link, Toyah. My question (after the OP) was going to be who is Stephen Sharp,...or more importantly, where is he(?).

I checked out his website but could not see anything about them..would love to see pics of them as they age...any idea where one could see some? I have only seen a hatchling pic.

I'm bringing this thread back from the dead.

I can't find an adult picture of a Citrine. And it's killing me.. Anyone?

You have to give the hatchling time to grow up to be an adult first. ;) And it will probably look alot like a caramel snow, which to me look alot like regular snows.

I just need to aquire hypo and then I could work towards producing these. They look stunning in the photos I have seen, though they have all been young. . .

I have the genetics available in my collection required to make citrines.... it will just take me a couple of generations and several years to get them.

"a Citrine is Amel Anery Caramel Hypo"

Seems a strange combo to purposefully, go for if you consider that:
Hypo is known to be masked by Amel,
and Caramel is known to be masked by Anery.
Which pretty much leaves a snow?

This morph would look like a snow and the genetics sound like you would have a snow with a couple of hidden traits. It might be nice from a breeding standpoint since you could use them to generate several morphs, but as a unique morph, they wouldn't be anything special. Certainly wouldn't pass the old "brown bag test." Also, considering the fact that it would take several generations of breeding (or a lot of luck) to have a pair of known 4x homo animals, I'd be worried about this one.
