Cleaning viv

Hello everyone. Today I cleaned my viv for the first time since I got my snake(I got my snake a month and half ago). My question is, should I clean my tank every month or can I wait a month and a half, 2 months? I feed my snake every Wednesday and usually it poops by Friday/Saturday. I spot clean every time it poops and I make sure I take out the substrate around the feces.

Also, I fed my snake today. Something weird happend though. First, it didnt want to leave the seperate container I fed it in. Secondly, when I put it back in its viv I didnt go into one of its hides. I was roaming around its tank for a good 20 minutes! Trying to get out, look for more food I guess? I feed it 2 f/t pinkies every Wednesday, should I move up to a fuzzy?

for your first question, I spot clean my viv every day. I only completely empty the viv about every 3 to 4 months and wash with a mild bleach detergent, then wash again with a reptile safe soap (you can find this at any reptile/pet store). I have never had any proplems. You might want to wash out your water dish every couple of days. I go about 3 days between water dish washing.

Second question...sounds like your snake is still hungry. Next time try him on a fuzzy. if you are able to go and look at the feeders that you buy, try and pick out a smaller fuzzy and see how your snake likes it. Then start getting normal sized fuzzies. On a side note, a fuzzy will take a little long to get down, and then a little longer to be fully digested, but you can still follow the same handling rules that you have been (no handling for 2 days after feeding)

as long as you're...

tidying up the enclosure somewhat frequently you should be able to get by with a thorough cleaning and bedding replacement every month and a half, two at the most, but i wouldn't go more than two months without replacing the substrate and bleaching the tank. i have made a habit of cleaning it out about every two months.

how old/big is your snake? my snake likes to remain in the feeding cage for a while after a meal. i let him be for about an hour or so. i recently moved up to fuzzy mice because mine seemed to be hunting for non-existent food after each meal. he's about fourteen inches long now, i'm not sure how old. he ate last friday and he's been pretty inactive since, it seems to be a difficult digestion process because it was a much larger meal. if you're giving him two pinks at each meal he is probaby about ready to handle one fuzzy.

I have 04 hatchlings that are 4 months old right now and are eating fuzzies. One of them, about 16" is eating 2 fuzzies at a feeding.

The frequency, size and number of feeders that you are feeding to your snake depends solely on the snake. If the snake is a fast growing snake, then he will need more food sooner than the ones that grow slower.

Well I got my snake a month and a half ago, at that time, the guy at the pet store said it was 2-3 months old. So now I figured its about 3-4 months old. I believe its about 13-14 inches long. I started to feed my snake 2 pinkies the third week I had it. Just seemed like 1 pinkie wasnt enough for it.
