Clear water dish?

I have my corns water in a clear glass water dish. He has only been in his new home for about two weeks now but today when i was putting him back in his viv his nose touched the water. As soon as he knew what it was he started gulping down water as fast as he could. It looked like he hadnt had any for days. Can he not see the water becuase its in a clear dish. Will he get used to it? Any input would help!

Well, if you saw him drink out of it I wouldn't worry about it. If he didn't know it was there before he does now. I was always under the impression that snakes could "smell" water, or sense humidity. Maybe I'm wrong though.

As far as i know (please correct me if wrong) snakes taste water particles using their tongue, and they usually find the water 10 out of 10 times by following the "particle trail". I think this is right, but am not 100% sure.

At least if it isn't right, and he didn't know where the water was, he does now :) , and will now be able to find it when every he wants. Don't worry about the time it took him to drink, my little snow will drink out off my hand over the water bowl, for a good 5 mins (about twice a week) and my adult will drink about 5 mins a day, and upto 10 mins after feeding (she loves her fresh water, 20 mins after i put it in she will drink, it's like clockwork).

I have snakes that drink often...and others I have NEVER observed drinking...
Snakes use moisture very efficiently, that is why they produce urates instead of liquid urine...the water has been reintroduced to their system...snakes also get a good deal of their water from the moisture content of their prey...if your snake was dehydrated...you should be able to see visible signs. Otherwise I wouldn't even worry about it.
