Climbing/Gripping

This is more to sate my curiosity than anything, but I've noticed lately that my little butter corn has gotten much better at holding onto my hand whenever I take him out of his vivarium, and I was wondering if this could be a sign that he's grown accustomed to handling or if everyone's corns just seem to be able to hold on a little better as they age.

He always seems to find my pinkie finger and wraps his tail around that once or twice. It's a big relief! Before now, he was slipping and sliding up and down my arm whenever he decided to climb around. Now that he's more secure, it's much more enjoyable to take him out and socialize him.

I'm happy to hear your snake reached this level of familiarity with you. I'm new to corns and snakes period, but I hold my snake daily and the first moment she is so curious and excited it almost wears me out. I come back for the second turn in a day and she's sedated. She always does a double wrap around my hand and her upper neck wrapped beneath the first wrap synced tight..or she'll dangle like from a tree with her waist wrapped in between my fingers.

I understand the relief feeling; I assumed she'd always be nuts when I held her!

I wonder if like young children, younger snakes are just on the go. I saw a video of a fully mature corn laying on a bed totally mellow and moving slowly..very accustomed to things and handling especially. I hope my corn gets that way!

I only have experience with one snake, but in that limited experience. Yes, she has certainly gotten a better grip with age. I used to think she was lazy. LOL! I still sometimes wonder if she just thinks, I'll let this lady handle fall prevention. But she wraps up my wrists and fingers a LOT more than when she was a little thing and was all about crawling in and out of fingers. ....it's a whole new adventure, now, because I have to get her untangled from things all the time....hair, clothes, random objects that I walk by and she grabs.....kinda like an 8 month old baby learning they have hands! ;)
