thanks for the compliments. i use a nikon coolpix 2500 which has a great macro feature that allows good closeups. the only challenge is figuring out whether to hold the camera at more of a distance and zoom in, or hold it closer to the subject and zoom out........chris
 
sorry, i forgot to answer your other question. my light source was direct and ambient sunlight........chris

zoomed out and hold it close, i read somewhere u get better quality and focus, and some camera's go to wide angle setting or something when on Macro and zoomed out.

thats how i do it anywayz :p hehe
and fast shutter speeds.
