I'm getting really frustrated here. Has anyone dealt with Eimeria before? I've never heard of it until now.
My Blizzard corn was diagnosed with a "mild" eimeria outbreak. She was put on Albon for 6 days, .6cc 1st day, .3cc every day after.
I finished the treatment, thought everything would be ok. Kept her in quarantine. Last night, I went to check on her, and she was puking up white mush. Scared the hell out of me, so I put the mush in a baggie and brought her and the mush to the vet.
While at the vet, she pooped. So I had the vet do a fecal too. She is WALL TO WALL of coccidia!!! The vet isn't sure if they are dead or alive, she is keeping a sample to see if they hatch out anything. The mush was decided to be pus, and it appears the corn is sloughing her stomach wall!
The corn is now on Amakacin, 0.01cc every other day. I don't know what to do at this point. She has been keeping food down, and otherwise appears healthy. My other two adult female corns have had fecals, and both were negative for coccidia. She hasn't been in contact with any other snakes, how could she have gotten the coccidia?
My vet is guessing the corn has had it all along, since I bought her last year. She thinks that it bloomed after she laid her unexpected, second clutch of eggs.
I'd appreciate any insight.
