Colour shift????

Runaway987

Noob corn snake owner 8-)
Hello all i recently purchased a lovely looking black and white corn i think it would be described as a motley???

Anyway i have had it about a week now and it has eaten 2 pinkies and is looking OK.

But recently its colours have faded from contrasting black/white to a dark brown\ coffee cream colour.

Is it just awaiting a shed of skin?

Is it Ill?

Is it Juvenile colours and then changing? Do Snakes colours change???

Thanks a bunch.

hiya Runaway987 :wavey:

its most likely to be its getting ready to shed.........they can look kind of washed out at that time
are the eyes cloudy/blue too?

thank you

Yeah they are they are kinda glazed over and hueish blue :D

Thank you ever so much.

I just want to make sure i look after him properly :D

Don't be surprised if your black and white cornsnake (anerythristic) changes color as it grows older. Most hatchlings start out black, but may get lighter and/or browner with age. Here are some pics showing the variation that can be seen in anerys. The last 2 pics are of the same snake taken at almost 1 yr old and then 1 year later. All of these snakes were black and white at hatching.

Now I didn't say he WOULD change color, just that he MAY change. And I'm sure that no matter what color he ends up being, you'll love him for what he is...YOURS!

Oh yeah, he is one seriously sexy serpent PLUS he has a distinct Smiley on the top of his head identical to this = )

Susan, The two bottom pics you have here, are they really the same snake?
If so wow, what a change in colour. Very nice.

hmmm i dont know if its been said already, but i beleive your snake would be an anery corn, lacking all pigment (pure black and white)

sorry if its already been mentioned

Just thought I should mention king snakes, but feared potential persecution as this is a corn site? :sidestep:
