Corn Snake freaked out

I was holding her while I cleaned the cage, like always. She was acting normal crawling around my arm, when she switched to my other arm and was squeezing real tight. Her head started to get alittle twitchy (rapid movements). Then started striking in the direction of my wife. So I put her back in her cage, which wasnt easy. She would not let go of my arm. Although half of her was in the hide. It looked like she was lining up for a strike. So I shook her off, and she started striking the side of the cage, and rattling the tail. I put a towel over it and turned out the out.

Now the only thing I can think of is, my daughter was in the other room playing with a rattle. I think that the sound of that might of spooked her. She is about a year old, and has never done this before. Sorry for the long post. Any ideas on what happened?

well they r very keen to low/high vibrations like when i put on loud music my snake becomes lil jumpy at time when the base is on high.

this could be the fact since corn snakes in the wild sometimes rattle their tale to imitate a real rattler so mayb they might be on the defense tell ur daughter to be careful with the rattle

i think different sounds can get different reactions out of them. my snakes are much more calm when i put on some music (call me weird but they love shakira...calms them down instantly) and they get really wild when the fan is on or just other loud noises.

Your wife probably smelled like something your snake didn't like. I very highly doubt the sound of your daughters rattle would trigger a reaction like that. Do you have any other pets (cats, dogs) that your wife might have smelled like?
