Corn Snake Hiding For 2 Weeks, Not Wanting To Come Out

My Corn Snake has been hiding in his moss hide for the past 2 weeks. If I uncover him and take his lid off, he seems afraid of me but will come out (after about 10 mins) and explore his cage. He won't actually come out of his cage to be held though, and he'll just go back to hiding again, usually in a different hide since I uncovered him. He's eating fine. He was getting dull a few days ago and he's clear again now. Could he be hiding from shedding? Stress? Summer heat?

I don't want him to be afraid of me and not come out of his hide forever.

It's ok he should be fine it could be all of those things make sure he has enough hides and the temperature is constant and right and when you take him out for feeding just play with him for about 2 minutes so he is used to you

If he is getting ready to shed, hiding is normal. If he could he'd hang out a "do not disturb" sign.

Totally normal behavior. He might be coming out to explore when you're not around as well. Corns are pretty sensative to what is going on around them. My first snake was kept in a glass tank and was a pet hole. ;)

My snakes that I keep in tubs (darker) are more active and don't seem as scared to poke their heads around their enclosures. If he's in a glass aquarium you may want to find a lightweight yet somewhat dark cloth to drape over the top. Your snake may feel more secure if it's not quite as bright.

^ THIS is so true lmao totally normal, my amel just shed after almost 13 days of hiding... I was like Dude! What are you doing!? Lol no worries, he'll be just fine.

The only time I've ever been hissed at was when trying to take a snake out when I didn't realize she was blue. So I poked her a couple more times because I was amazed at how big of a hiss could come out of such a little snake! Then I left her alone until she was done. Seems to take forever sometimes.
