Corn Snake Naming

Hey! So I was just wondering if anyone here had any cool snake naming stories! When I got my first corn, he was just a little normal, but I thought he was the most special thing(he is still special to me), I saw the golden yellow "A" or arrow on his head and I thought it was super rare, so I named him Alvin because of course he was yellow and red and had a big A on his head, he escaped a while ago (don't worry I found him) and I named the snake I got after him Alex as a way of remembering him, now I just give every one of my corns names starting with A, Alvin, Alex, Arya, Athena, Aegon, Artemis and so on! I know I can't be the only one with a naming story like this and I'm wondering if anyone else has one!

When I got my corn. I was going to name him Kirby because he's pink on white. Based on the video game character, since he swallows things whole and gets their power! But then I remembered when I get a white snake (which some snows will grow to be.) I'll name him Leviathan. Which... is also from a video game I played.

Sorry not much of a cool story.

My first snake over 40 years ago was a Boa Constrictor I named "Eve" because Eve was tempted by the serpent in the book of Genesis.

I later got a California King Snake and named him "Dude" because back in the 80's everything was Surfer this and that and all the California guys were dudes.

I got a 2nd Boa Constrictor that I named "Bo." It was a shortened version of Boa and was the first thing that came to my mind actually.

A few years ago I had a Ball Python for a while. (Knowing what I know now, I can say it was a big mistake) Anyway everything worked out for the best, and I named him "Roy" shortened for Royal which is what Ball Pythons really are. The term "Ball Python" is an Americanized thing.

And currently I have "Rufus" my Corn snake. I named him Rufus for no particular reason other than he just looks like a Rufus. (It's a Redneck Southern thing, I live in Tennessee, and we sometimes refer to Country Bumpkins as "A Rufus.")

My first corn was named Ledger because his favorite spot to hang out was the ledge of his viv. My current snake, Atlas, was given his name because the day we brought him home he spent the two hour car drive pushing against the lid of his deli cup.

My Tepesh is named after a character from one of the many book series I read lol He is named after Vlad Tepesh because of his fire colors.

I liked the topic of snake shaped or snake related gods, but all names sounded so powerful and expressed such bigness, I felt they suit bigger snakes like boas or pythons better. I ended up calling him Naga. He had "Naga" face and this name didn't sound disproportionate to a corn.
Now I am more fond of space related names, so possibly my next snakes will be called something like Nebula, Galaxia, and the like, but always matching with their colors.

My boyfriend works for the Air Force. Three kittens and their mom showed up on his doorstep, so he brought them in and named them Victor, Echo, and Oscar after the NATO phonetic alphabet (also partially inpsired by Joss Whedon's Dollhouse). I just sort of followed suit. UK imports get names from the old RAF phonetic alphabet.

My Aunt passed away when I was little. She had 3 boas Ozzy, Jezzabell, and Adolf. They got really big and my grandfather gave them away to some boyscouts who built a giant viv for them. Since my boyfriend has a picture of him and Ozzy the rock star. I choose Ozzy for my snakes name. Plus I thought it would work for a boy or a girl and I don't know what my little corny is cause I didn't want him probed.

Cleo is named after Cleopatra because she's a butter motley and the yellow reminds me of Liz Taylor's famous golden dress in the movie. Also because I wanted to name her after a queen because I just think she looks like royalty.

Clyde was named before I even got him, from his picture. I named him after my father's World War II army nickname, Clyde Van Dusen. That name was in turn after a famous racehorse. My dad has been gone for 14 years now and I still miss him. Clyde is not the first pet I've named after a family member I miss. I had a dog named Ollie after my grandmother Olive. My sister had an iguana named Olive also after my grandmother.

When I was adopting Mandy, I didn't really like her rescue name which was Omega Red after the comic book character. I wanted to give her a feminine and very pretty name. I wanted something that maintained the M sound from her rescue name. I almost called her Meggie but it didn't quite fit. I also wanted to give her a name that reflected that she is cherished and loved. So I named her Mandy which is of course short for Amanda. The name means "worthy of love."

Ayasha means "little one" and she was only 12 grams when she arrived. She was my very first and I wanted a special name for her.
Then Gypsy arrived. She was not what I ordered but was a total love. She was an adult and the shop sent her to get rid of her. I didn't want to turn her away and make her hit the road like a gypsy... I actually call her Gypsy Rose...which is also a song I remember from the 60's when I was little.
My son named Pernix, which means nimble or agile. When we unpacked him, he very quickly threaded himself around Nate's fingers like a piece of string and wouldn't let go.
I like the name Walter, so I was referring to my anery as that before he even arrived, but it didn't fit; he's active 24-7 and Walter is a laid-back name. I changed it to ET because of the way he periscopes his head to see everything going on around him.
Lando Lakes is a play on the butter brand because he is a vibrant butter motley and I have very little creativity.
My newest is a 56 gram tessera. He is faster than a whip! My son named him Barry Allen after The Flash superhero.

Named mine after Chocolate/Candy

Caramel Motley - Cadbury
Hypomelanistic - Toblerone
Crimson - Butterscotch
Anery Tessera - Liquorice

One of my newest acquisitions is a little magma with a kink in her tail. When I was about 12 years old around Christmas time, I had the house to myself for an afternoon so I went hunting for presents. I found the bike my grandparents had bought me, but I also happened to find my grandpa's porn stash. At the top was a video tape labeled Felicity with some blonde-haired girl dressed in red. It seemed like a good name for my kinky little girl.

:roflmao: :santa:

Most of our animals are named in tv or book themes and I try to pick names that fit their personality or appearance and I try to do "pair" names for the male/female pairs bought with the intention to breed. Some just popped into my head and stick though.

Niska - Tricolor Hognose, L. pulcher. Named for a villain in the tv show Firefly.

Kittaning and Atticus – Western Hognose. Ukiah Oregon book series.

Iroh – Green Tree python. Named for the Avatar the Last Airbender cartoon.

Viserion - Albino Checkered garter snake. Husband's first snake. Named for a dragon in Game of Thrones.

Smaug – Honduran Milksnake. Husband's first snake. (He bought 2 as his firsts) named for the dragon in Lord of the Rings.

Orlando and Echo – Trans Pecos Ratsnake. Named for 2 of the characters in Louis L'Amour's Sacketts series.

Zuko and Mai – Amazon Tree boa. Also ATLA.

Ukiah and Indigo – Cape African House snake. Also U.O. book series.

Wash, Zoe and Kaylee – Brazilian Rainbow boa. Firefly.

Tam – Vietnamese Blue Beauty snake. Firefly.

Malcolm and Inara – Mandarin Ratsnake. Firefly.

Atari, Serenity and River – Thai Bamboo Ratsnake, O. p. coxi. Girls are Firefly but Atari just came to me and seemed to fit.

Jayne and Vera – Broad Banded Mountain Ratsnake, O. p. laticinctus. Firefly.

Sebastian and Emma – Mexican Rosy boa. Sebastian was from a book, Emma just came to me and seemed to fit.

Corn Snakes – Various morphs
Vash - Phantom. Two book characters, a dragon and a spy, seemed fitting for a phantom.

Max – Tessera. U. O. book seies.

Fiona - Honey. Burn Notice character. Wanted something feminine but kick butt to match her personality.

Rhiannon – Caramel Motley. Named by previous owner.

Persephone – Phantom Tessera. Firefly.

Badger – Charcoal Tessera. Firefly.

Hadrian – Amel Tessera. Riyria book series.

Arista – Hypo Cinder. Riyria book series.

Alric – Motley Tessera. Riyria book series.

Gwen – Peppermint Tessera. Riyria book series.

Viper – Diffused Tessera. Breeder tried taking a video of them before shipping and when they misbehaved, these names suggested themselves.

Vixen – Diffused. ^See above.^

Phoenix, Sierra and Cairo – Crested gecko. Started doing geographical place names for all of my Crested geckos ever since the first one.

Glitch, Gauge, Gadget, and Gizmo – Gargoyle gecko. Gizmo was first, took forever to name and it just came to me but set the tone for the rest.

Dag, Pel, Nysa and Scarlett – Three Toed/Eastern Box turtles. First 2 are from the Sharing Knife/Vorkosigan Saga book series. Other 2 are from the Riyria series. But Scarlett might be getting a name change as I'm becoming more sure that the little hermaphrodite is actually male.

Ivan, Gregor and Katara – DSH cats. First 2 are from the Vorkosigan Saga books, last is from ATLA.

Isabella and Ty Lee – Chihuahuas. My dad named Isabella and Ty Lee is from ATLA.

Wow Tavia, it's not only impressive that you could come up with so many names, but that you can remember them!

I'm not going to lie, I gave up on naming after my 11th snake. Now they are simply known by their genetics....
