Corn Snake or Hognose Snake??

Just curious to see if anyone has some input on this. My son just picked up a hognose out in Portland. He already has a corn, but was really taken by the hognose. Any thoughts or input as to comparisons or different care needed for either. They are both very pretty and interesting snakes and this just adds one more decision to make on my purchase of one. Any insight is welcome. Thanks

Hognose snakes tend to be thicker, but shorter. They don't get as big a most corn snakes. The temp range for a hognose is a tad bit higher than for a corn. Otherwise, both snakes are generally docile and friendly and make nice pets.

I keep both...
I favor snakes that have more "personality" and Hoggies definitely have more ;)
They will mimic a cobra pretty quick. It's entertaining to watch them hood up and hiss like a cobra. Some will play dead too. Fun little snakes for sure.
They are rear fanged. Small fangs and weak venom. Only a person that is possibly allergic to the toxin that might have a issue. My big girl chewed on me once with no ill effects.
I keep mine in racks with my corns. Their appetite requires more feedings.
:)

hoggies are hilarious, and often out and about.

I had one that would bite you as soon as look at you, and they can be fussy feeders. And their poop stinks

I wouldn't suggest them for a first snake, otherwise they are awesome

Thank you Karl, daddio207 and Iulia for your response. I guess it depends on the snake as far as disposition just like any other snake. I do think they are really cute thou.

I also have both, 3 corns and 1 hog and my hog definitely has personality lol...my corns all do too but the hog's is so freaking hilarious! He thinks he's big and bad but...yeah, no he's really not lol

Hello, I recently went to a reptile show in Oaks PA. Saw lots of nice snakes mostly Ball Pythons. Only a few had corns. Saw some hognose and actually got to hold one. They are adorable. This little guy(actually he was around 6 months old) was really sweet. Just looked at me and hung out. Really like those little guys, but still on the fence. Looking forward to getting my new snake what ever it will be in Mid May meanwhile I am having fun looking :D
