corn snake or king snake

ive been looking at the grey banded kingsnakes for a while now, and really like the way they look. im just wondering what the major diff is between the kingsnake and cornsnake. as far as temperment and husbandry.

My opinion: I keep both kings, milks and rats and corn snakes. All have the same type of general care requirements. Some just like a little bit higher temps or humidity than others. Graybands and corns are kept the same ranges on everything. If thinking of wanting to breed them eventually, i would definitely go with Corns because breeding graybands is more difficult with the hatchlings.

As far as temperament ... they are pretty similar ..
Husbandry is pretty close too ... the gray bandeds need lower humidity.
I also heard they can be very picky feeders (thats just what I have heard and read) thats what has kept me from gettin one . Beautiful snakes though .

you could always just compare a few care sheets ...

But I think your best bet is a corn snake ....
good luck with whatever you choose ...

yeh, i like the cornsnakes alot, but my wife is petrified of snake. and if i can talk her into one, one will be all i can get. and im likeing the grey banded alot more. i had a corn for a while and he was really cool, but passed away on me. ive also read about the greys being hard to get to eat, but thats only one new hatchlings. if i get one i plan on getting one at least a year old. dont want a little one to start out with again. i think thats where i went wrong with the baby corn i had. it was doing great one day and then the next it was dead. could of been somthing wrong with it though. i dont know.

I have 2 Corns and a California King. I find that the King is less skittish in the hand. It has a better feeding response and is more active in the viv, that is, I see it more during the day. This is based on one King mind you. YMMV.

If you are only gonna have one snake and you like the looks of the gray banded better than go for it, that sounds like a good plan .... getting a well started snake is a good idea .

How long did you have the baby corn before it died ?

i had the corn for about a month and a half. it ate fine every week and was very active. drank and everything. just one day i went to get him out and he was all limp.
