Okay my mom got us snakes. I got a ball piethon and she is fine. My brother got a blizzard and my mom got herself a creamsickle corn snake. Okay the corns are babies born in May. Here is my problem The creamsickle name Grommet is mean. Mom said he needs time to ajust to us but he bites at everything and beats his tail like a raddle snake and when mom picks him up for a few minutes everyday he bites her gardning gloves hard and stuff.
Okay hes getting a little better but still bites and is mean. will this ever change? It scares me but she said he'll get use to us and calm down. Is that true? The other corn is nice! This one keeps biting my mom and it bothers me. I want to get rid of it. She does not. Will it be okay or will he always be mean? I saw a grown corn at her freinds house and its big. If grommett is big he will hurt my little brother or my little sister or our weiner dog. ?
Thank you
Miranda

It is a ball PYTHON and the cream is only part corn, it is a hybrid. You should not worry about getting hurt from it as a adult, they do not get that big, if you just keep handling it is should calm donw, and as hatchings, the bites do not hurt.

when you bring a corn snake home, you must give it 3 or 4 days without touching or grabbing it, because it needs to adjust to its new home,
so your mom was right, so be patient,
after that you can start letting it move through your hands

I agree with cornsnakekid92 and the tail rattling is a just a way of saying back off.My corn is about 3 1/2 ft long and when I feed him in is feeding tank he does the tail thing he should get better about the biting thing over time (with handling)Good luck. :wavey:

I wouldn't leave the dog and snake anywhere near each other, personally. The dog is probably far more likely to hurt the snake by playing with it, than the other way around imo

I would agree with Diamondlil on this. The dog is far more likely to do more damage to the snake, and instinct could take over with the dog,who would see this as a threat to himself...killing the corn... :sobstory:

I would suggest handling the little critter on a VERY regular basis.
The 1st time you handle it for about 10 minutes, the 2nd time for 15minutes,the 3rd time for 20 Minutes)(Example ONLY)This will let the snake become more used to you and it will soon realise that its sfe,and has nothing to panic about...and should calm down... :wavey:

You have to think about how much bigger you are than the tiny baby snake. In the wild, everything eats baby snakes. It just figures that if it can scare you off, it survives.

One of the first baby snakes I got bit me 15 times just getting her out of the shipping container. She continued to bite for the first three months. Never really felt it, though. A tiny baby snake cannot hurt you. Now she ignores me, but she will still rattle after I put her in the tub to feed her. Guess she doesn't want to share her meal.

ok dont wory your snake will not at your weiner dog lol and your ma isprolly right u need to give it time t adjustor ust wear hard gloves and let him bite you lol

I have snakes that are big enough to kill my cats, and ferrets that could kill my corn, lizzards, and mice
but they doint because they simply dont play together
keeping your animals separated is not a hard thing to do

Honestly, he may calm down over time or he may just get better at biting you... Their bites aren't too bad even when they are adults so not too much to worry about... If you decide that you just really don't like the snake, you have the right to leave it alone and not mess with it... Just don't give your mom a hard time if she decides to keep it... And no accidentally letting the dog get ahold of it lol...
