Cutting an adult feeder mouse in half

Just got a new 10-pack of frozen feeder mice for my corn Robert the Bruce but one adult (27g) accidentally got in with the weanlings (13-18g). I don't think Bob'll be able to handle the 27g mouse even after the 10-11 weeks (counting a shed) so I figured I can cut the 27g mouse in half, 27/2 = 13.5g that's close enough eh?

I never had to cut feeders before so how would I go about it? Cut it frozen or thawed? Lengthwise down the spine I guess? If cutting thawed I would immediately refreeze the other half right?

I hope I only have to do this the once...

Thanks for any tips

James

Cutting thawed will be really messy. I would cut it lengthwise while frozen and stick the other half right back in the freezer. Be warned that its guts will want to fall out when you thaw it!
