The Austin Expo was this weekend and I had been looking forward to it for the last 3-4 months. Ended up working Saturday and didn't know if I would be able to make it today, but got the chance and took my wife and our young boy. Anyway, to make a long story short, we really didn't have any money and after getting Firehouse (the monster milk) I figured that I would just look around and try to pick up some frozen mice while there. Well, as 99% of most snake owners know, you can't go to an expo and just look. So after previously having to give up my ownership and the naming of my newly acquired Mexican Black Kingsnake to my wife a month ago, guess who we ended up getting a snake(s) for today............yeah. Now she says that she will go ahead and make the kings hers.

We picked up a nice chocolate/white 7yr. old CalKing proven female and a future breeding pair of black/white CalKing hatchlings. They are all pretty much more abberant patterned than stripped/spotted/banded. I liked them from first seeing them as did my wife and pictured into the future of what might possibly be able to come out of these snakes. Overall it was a nice show and met a few new people but ended up buying all of these from the people that I had bought my very first snake from (Elayne-Abbotts Okeetee), Don and Sally Shores w/ShoresEnuffSnakes. Very nice people and excellent prices to boot. These three were purchased for a steal and had about 5-6 compliments on the adult as we were leaving the show. Anyway, hope you enjoy the pics.

Again, I have to say wow. These pictures are great, but the color in person is a very Deep chocolate on the adult. The two small ones are good looking too. Congrats again on the steal of these guys Galen.

You go girl! *high-five* YOUR snakes are lovely! =D

Oh Maaaaan! You got the stripey chocolatey adult King snake that I almost bought!!! I was drooling over him. He/(she?) is gorgeous!
I bought a butter motley female hatchling from the Shores. They had awesome snakes didnt they!?!
Congrats!

Glad I did not go. I do not think I would have been able to walk out of there empty handed, I am so bad, that I stopped by my local pet store just to chat, and walked out of there with a pair of Reverse Okeetees (amels). Great looking snakes by the way.

Its a SHE Kimberley. Isn't she a beauty. (i sound like the croc hunter)
It was between her and the white male with black spots. (adult) Don said that he was not real tame so I decided on the choco. Of course SHE bit the crap out of me...go figure. :)

She struck me as sooo gorgeous, just like the, what were they?, jungle pythons or something that where there. Did you see those? I really don't need a second king, but I almost bought her. I even circled the room then came back and looked her over again. Dang!

I think even tame kings will bite, especially if they don't know you. They are such predators, like the Great White Shark of Snakes. My albino cali king even bites himself when its feeding time. He's finally learned to let go without assistance. He's a good boy though. (A stinky good boy.)

My king is stinky.
I don't know if its that I'm not use to such a large snake with his large smelly poos, or if he likes to musk for fun now and then, or what, but he is one stinky snake. I might as well have a rodent in the house, (live, and not in the freezer that is.)

Yea, after talking with Galen, and knowing that you didn't understand why anyone would want snakes, I noticed the "MY" very quickly. Welcome to the wonderful world of reptiles.

Kings are known to musk almost all the time. I got a trio of cali king hatchlings just as I was leaving the show (a trade). all three of them tried to eat me while sexing, and then left some very large poos on me. boy were they smelly on the 2 hour drive home.
