Hey guys just bought a new TStat, thoroughly impressed neat looking cheap (Microclimate 100 if your interested) only 1 problem read the first side of the leaflet "Place the probe 9 inches from the heat source". No problem drilled a new hole in my DIY viv my pride and joy next to the little guy of course and placed the probe 9 inches. Turned the instruction leaflet "if you have a microclimate 100 you need to place the probe in the centre of the heat mat" all the way over the other side of the damn viv (prefer this option to drilling another whole. :bird:

So I need to thread the wire all the way to the other side of the viv. How have the rest of you guys done with attaching wires to the side of your viv. What is the best long term solution to this and is celotape acceptable?

I have my hyg/thermometer wires just laying under the substrate. One runs about 2.5' across the front and one is about 16" to the middle. I've never had a problem with them not being secured along their length.
You can use aquarium silicone to stick them. Another member suggests using a glob of silicone, after it cures cut a slit in it to hold the wire.

I would not use any tape in the viv where the snake can reach it!

How big is the hole you drilled? Do you necessarily need to use it? A few of my thermostats are microclimate 100's. I have one hole drilled near to the floor of the viv's where the heatmat and probe wires both go through. The probe is then taped to the centre of the heatmat. Failing that, I would use the same tape (thick silver duct tape) which you can probably use to attach the probe wire (is is actually long enough for you to do this?). For a cleaner, less complicated set up, I would drill another hole and fill in the other (or leave if it's small enough)... Hope this helps and it's not too much garble! I'll be cleaning my vivs out in the next day or so so could get a few pics if you want?

Yeah that would be helpful cheers always like to see other peoples takes on these sorts of things. It's not as cut and shut as you think when you buy them. :D
