dark scales

my creamsicle has a few dark scales around her neck / head, and two about halfway down her body on her back :shrugs: . at first i though "Oh no! mites!" but the thing is, they never move/multiply, soaking does nothing, they don't seem to bother the snake at all. and looking very closely, they really look like dark scales. the only thing is, they weren't there when i got the snake. using a type of reptibark as substrate.
the dots are VERY very small.
any ideas? i'll try to get some pictures, but i'm having problems getting my camera to focus 'up close'
the dots have persisted after two sheds.

Hmmm, not sure I can help you, but if you try the macro function on your camera (little flower symbol) it's like magic for close ups! Hope it's just nothing, sometimes it's good to worry a little bit though!!

theres a word for when albinos have a lil black in them ummm... o yea paradox albinos, yea thats it. its when an albino has black spots here and there. hope i helped

My amel has a darker cale on the crown of his head. It looks kindof like dirt, but when I checked out his shed, I noticed that the scale was just darker. He still has the dark scale after the shed by the way.

Come to think of it....my big male snow has a couple of little speckles of bright red on him, only about 4-5 and they're soooo tiny, but he has them :crazy02: . I'm thinking it's not so uncommon for 'albinos' -in all their forms to have an inkling og colour that's not meant to be there.

My ghost has a few dark scales too. sitting out in the middle of nowhere. ill see if i can get a shot of them when she is done digesting her food.

:-offtopic she is a good eater BTW

Yup, but a ghost showing the odd dark scale isn't odd because they're meant to show melanin (black pigment) an amelanistic that shows black is odd as is an anery with red spots or a snow with black or red spots....etc, ad nauseum....
