Dark spot after feeding... And a disagreement at work

So, every time I feed my little Amel (?) corn snake, there is a darker spot that looks like the pinkie working its way through her.

At least that's what I assumed.

At work, we have an albino king snake that is at least 10 months old and is still on a pinkie a week. After all of the stuff I've read hear and other snake sites, I suggested that it should be on fuzzies. It's about 1/2+ inches in diameter.

So, it ate a fuzzie last night and the worker freaked out because there was a swollen dark spot. (This is 12 hours later - My snake has a darker swollen spot for at least 24 hours... while the food digests) The snake gets taken to the vet, who says that yup, its' bruised and it should go back to pinkies.

I know I'm not a vet, but i am also a little suspicious that the vet... this seems crazy!

Any opinions, thoughts, or ideas???

Thanks.

In amelanistic snakes, the gall bladder and liver can be seen through their bodies when they are small, I've never seen a spot move as food digested, though. Either way, a snake 1/2" in diameter can easily eat a prey item 3/4" diameter. He isn't "bruised" from eating too large a prey item, if it was in fact too large to digest, he would regurgitate it. I think your workmate has taken a snake to an elephant vet.

hmmm...

I'm sorry but I can't oder any help, but I just wanted to say, "what's with all these reptile vets?!"
.. in the past two days I have read stories on here about 'reptile Vets' that give out diagnosis that don't even make sense when it comes to BASIC reptile care..

I have only have my snakes for a year this November, and even with my limited knowledge I can tell that diagnosis was wrong.. :(

just makes me sad/worried to look for a reputable herp vet in my area..

I can see the pinkie when I hold it up to the light on my tiny gal.

The King is an albino and the dark blotch was underneath on the belly... But what gets me the most is that it was "swollen." Of course it is! It's got a meal in there!

Sorry.. just a little irritated about it.
