Data's Shed Issues

I got a little tiny albino corn snake about a month ago, he just shed for the first time since I got him. Only the top half came off and I couldn't find it in the viv. I put him in a plastic bin with wet paper towels for an hour or so and that helped but most of it was still there. Then I misted his tank a bit. Later, I decided I'd try the pillow case treatment and that seems to have done it. I know the tail tip came off and it looks as though everything else did too. I'm wondering if it's just the dry air in Colorado right now or if I maybe fed him too much. I've been feeding him a pinky every 5 days.

My other corn snake lives in the same house and he's never had any issues shedding at all. He's been healthy and happy the last 6 months. I want little Data to grow up big like my other snake Michael has.

Your feeding regime is fine for a babe whilst on pinkies, so it's not down to that. Could Data's tank be nearer an A/C or heating unit, which might be giving him a very slightly drier atmosphere than Michael has? You could always give him a humid hide next time he goes blue, then he can tuck himself up in it if he needs to.

I keep very good records of feeding and shedding so when its a week from the last shed I put the shed or humid hide in Example if he shed 11-7-12 I put the box in 12-1-12 mine don't shed the same day every month but its usually within a week of the last shed. My tank humidity stays at 50% humidity. I get that to happen by putting wet sphagnum moss in a shallow deli cup and letting it stay on the warm side of the tank. Mist it every few days to keep it damp, replace it every month.
