Dead leaves?

I'm wanting to set up a good natural habitat and I'm wondering if it's possible to cover the substrate with dead leaves. I know they can harbor parasites so I guess my question is whether or not there's a way to make them safe. Would putting them in the oven at 200 for awhile do the trick?

You should read the book The Art of Snake Keeping. You'd love it!!

Baking the leaves would work. I'd go as low as the oven goes, for an hour.
