Dealing with loss.

My little buddy passed away last night, and I have no idea what was wrong with him. Aside from wanting to find out why, I was wondering how people typically deal with the loss of a snake, as most people I know don't care much for reptiles.

He was my first snake, and I bought him fairly young because I was looking forward to watching him grow up. I thought I was doing things right, and if I decide to get another one I don't want to be the cause of it happening again. Even if I do it won't be for a while, because he was my little buddy and can't be replaced.

awe, I'm soo sorry to hear that you lost your little buddy..
nobody except another snake or herp owner will be able to put themselves in your shoes..
people just don't think of snake like they do dogs and cats, and they are very much different but that doesn't stop us from attaching ourselves too such simple creatures..

I would be loss if one of my boys passed away.. but I will also say don't let this get you down!
you said he was a hatchling, some hatchlings have underlying issues that can't be foreseen or helped, they just were not ment to make it.. :(

I understand you wanting to take a break, and recomend it!
but I doubt it was anything that you did that caused this baby to pass..:(

I'm soo sorry again, they really do have a way of wrapping around our hearts.. <3

I'm so sorry about what happened.

To prevent this again, explain your set up in quite a bit of detail, like temps, substrates, food, everything. It may not have been you. Some animals are just sick.

Once again, I'm sorry for your loss.

The only real way to deal with it is to get a new snake to replace him -- that's what I did. Seeing an empty vivarium with a bunch of useless tools is too depressing.
