Dear life, You suck. <3 Jenni

Are we there yet?
So I'm pissed, and sad.

One of my snakes, started losing weight awhile ago. I wasn't really worried at first, I just started feeding more, but she kept losing weight. That's when I decide that she needs to go to the vet. I called and made an appointment. Unfortunately, the only reptile guy around here is on vacation, and I have to wait two weeks. Meanwhile, the snake that was 35 grams has dropped down to 14g. I'm keeping my freak-out under control, but barely. FINALLY, the day of the vet visit (i.e. today) arrives. I put her into a small tupperware and take her to the vet. Once we're in the office, he asks to see, and so I open up the tupperware. She's dead. She died on the way to the vet's.

I know that the deal was probably done before today, because obviously she wasn't healthy, but it is still unbelievably bitter.

Oh NO...I'm so sorry. That is heartbreaking to say the least.

If it were me, I would have a necropsy done.

Awwww, I'm sorry. :eek1: It really does suck when life brings you down...*sending positive thoughts your way!*

I hope that your other snakes are doing well, though...:)

Arrrrrgggghhh.

Major suckage. Sorry for your loss, Jenni. Keep us posted on the necropsy.

Oh, did I mention? Arrrrrgggghhh.

regards,
jazz

I'm sorry for your loss Jenni. I had a similar occurrance with an eggbond Butter. I scheduled surgery but had to wait because the reptile vet was at a conference. Several hours prior to surgery she passed. It was very frustrating because I had pushed to get it done sooner but they insisted I wait.
Was she one you produced or was she a new purchase? Just curious.
I hope you find out why this happened from the necropsy. I don't know why but finding the reason for a death always helps me.
Terri

I'm sooo sorry, Jenni :( I remember when I had to find a vet for Lady G. She had lost a lot of weight too, but she did make it to the vet's. Just didn't survive the next morning :( My necrospy was non-conclusive, but there was a lot of damage that had been going on quite awhile. I'm still paranoid about non-eating and losing weight. All those what-ifs... hope your vet has some better answers for you.

Sorry for your loss. Two of my dogs passed away this spring. I know the emptiness it can leave you. It will pass, but sorry you had to go through it.

It's always frustrating when a loved pet's health starts to go downhill and you can't pinpoint what's the matter. :( And worse when they meet their demise in that fashion. :( Sorry about your loss....

I'm really sorry to hear this Jenni, hope the vet manages to put your mind at rest regarding your other snakes.

Best wishes,

Very sorry to hear this Jenni. Hope you get some answers and if you're up to it, we'd also like to learn what is found...if anything. Perhaps something will help someone else with the same problem.
