Defecating Issue

DTkach

Snake Owner
My candy corn,Rosy, has been eating and acting very well. She has shed today without us knowing. So we put her in warm water to get the excess skin off.I have heard that putting them in water makes them defecate.Thats the problem. We haven't seen her defectate at all since we got her.She has eaten a good bit of times too.She does have Aspen Shavings in her enclosure and we think that the waste is under the bedding and have decided to clean the whole thing out.I am afraid of the health risks that not defecating brings.Suggestions?

I'm sure she has been defecating. If its a concern, try taking out the aspen and put her on newspaper so that you can be sure to see when she goes.

I have to agree. If she is still small, her feces will be hard to find in aspen, but I'm sure they are there. Even some of my bigger snakes can hide theirs from me if they defecate under the aspen or in their hides.

Using newspaper or white paper towel will make it much easier to see the feces, though the little one I have on paper towels will still manage to hide a poo from me now and then.
