For a corn snake coming from Petsmart I am truly amazed that she is doing as well as she is. She has had three meals with me so far and hasn't hesitated on any of them and she has already grown a little bit. She is super calm, loves to snuggle and has got a gorgeous coat of pink on her. I have taken pictures, I just need to put them on here. I honestly wasn't expecting her to make it considering all the horror stories I've heard about petsmart corn snakes but she looked healthy at the store, was moving great and when I brought her home I waited two days and offered food and she took it like a champ. She is thriving and is a great addition. I weighed her when we weighed the other snakes and her first weigh in came in at 13 grams. :p

That's great! There are definitely horror stories of pet store snakes, but that doesn't mean you can't get a healthy one from them! Glad she's doing so well for you. :)

I've gotten a snake at petsmart, and one at petco. The one from petsmart was definitely healthy! Not so much the one from petco.. though she's doing well now. Glad yours is doing great!

At least at the Petsmarts near me, the snakes are all housed individually and kept quite clean. The Petcos in my area all have masses of corns together in pretty dirty tanks.

Our girl is from Petsmart. They did have two together but other then that they seemed to take good care of them. I got a feeding schedule. They told me she pooped 2-3 days after every feed. She shed a week before we got her. All good info! She's been doing great! I think it depends on the personnel quite a lot. I look forward to seeing Desi!

I wasn't quite sure because the people who look after the reptiles aren't all that equipped to do so. The lady who is designated to look after them wouldn't even touch the snake and when she opened it up (I knew exactly what two were in there...Desi my snow and a gorgeous gorgeous charcoal) and she goes "this is a white one and this is a black one." I asked her one day about beardies (though I already know about them because I have one) she told me she didn't know anything about them and referred to an out of date manual. But I am glad Desi is doing well. My biggest fear was that she was going to be a non-feeder and have some kind of a uri. Glad I also found a herp vet that is literally 2 miles from my house and his prices are awesome and he is very knowledgeable in what he does...he did great with my beardie (she went in for a wellness check and fecal).

My Petco snakes has always been an awesome feeder. He was really skinny when we got him, but has fatten up. He is over a year now and weighs 78g, so he is still smaller than most yearlings I believe.

I am so glad Desi is doing so well!
