BIGDADDYSCORNSNAKES
hello everyone i have my first babies now i need some help with what morphs they may be the dad of the clutch is an caramel , motley , het for amber, het for butter the mother is a normal motley she laid 5 eggs in june for the first time and is now on her way to a dubble clutch but the question is the first 3 babies out of the egg look nothing like the mom or dad i have 2 orange /pink motleys 1 more still in the egg that is the same and 1 that is brownish/blackish with bright orange motley dots any help would be great thanks everyone for looking and reading

Pictures would help. Since your female is a normal, all of the babies would be normals unless she has any hets. Since your male is het for amel (butter is amel + caramel), and you have some pinkish orange babies, your female must be het amel too... those babies are most likely amels. The brownish/blackish one could be just a normal motley - they look a lot different as babies. Unless your female is het for anything but amel, all you're going to get is normals and amel motleys that are all het caramel, possible het hypo.

Going to agree with the above posts now. Amels and a normal is my guess, but I'm still pretty new to morph identification in babies.

The pictures are small and hard to make it, but I would say they are normals and amels. I don't think they're even motley... your caramel male and the babies look to have a normal pattern, so with the female being motley they would all be het motley. Again, I can't say that's 100% correct since it is hard to see, but that's what it looks like.

So, in recap... it appears that your male is Caramel het hypo and het amel, your female is a normal motley het amel, and the babies are a mix of amels het motley, caramel, and 50% possible het hypo and normals het motley, caramel, 66% possible het amel, and 50% possible het hypo.

babies

ok up date the brownish black one is redish dark brown now that he is in his box and orange motly dots on his back the two orangeish pink ones are more pink no black any where at all and orange motley circles on there backs thanks for any help

Still sounds like normals (brownish black/reddish brown) and amels (pink with no black). I don't see motley in the pics posted... do the dots go all of the way down their back or just for the first bit? Even normal patterned corns can have "dots" closer to the neck and more defined saddles lower down. Keep in mind that babies of the same genotype will still have variances. Again, it's hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like your male and the babies all have normal saddles, not motley.

If you want anything more accurate than that, we're going to need better pictures - full sized, not thumbnails.

the dot go all the way down to the tail i cant load any bigger pix for some reason or nother but the pix are on photo bucket under bigdaddyscornsnakes thanks for your help

Hmm.. they're still hard to see, but it does look like they might be motleys. They shouldn't have belly checkers though, and I definitely see some pictures of belly checkers. Either way, they are all definitely normals and amels.

Belly checkers are normal... on the amels (pink ones) they will be much clearer but can still be "visible" like in that one belly shot you have on there. Normal corns and many others will have belly checkers, some pretty solid and others off and on. Some morphs, including motley, do not have any checkers at all. So if it has belly checkers, it's most likely not a motley.

If you want some really detailed information on morphs, genetics, and more complete with a lot of picture examples, checkout corncalc.com and Ians Vivarium (the pictures in corncal.com are linked from that site). There is a lot of very good information there.

The best way to tell motley is if they have clear bellies. It's hard to see checkers on amels, so look close! I don't rely on the dots since I have seen motleys that have a "normal" looking pattern but clear bellies.
