digesting a wood chip?

ok, i always feed my corn in a separate container just so she doesnt accidently ingest repti bark with her meal. but today she kept clinging on to the inside of her hide so i couldnt take her out to eat, so i just picked up her whole hide and stuck it in tupperware container with her fuzzie. i figured she would just come out of her hide and eat it, but instead, she came half way out, grabbed the fuzzie with her mouth, and pulled it back into her hide to eat. while she was eating it, a dime sized wood chip got stuck to it, and she ate it. this is my first snake so i'm really not sure what to think. is this something to worry about? cuz i'm kind of worried.

I'm from uk

so not sure how big a dime is,a couple of questions though, how big is the snake and was the chip as big as its head, smaller or bigger???

If it was smaller i would say you MIGHT be ok,but if not you may have a prob, i'm not an expert and dont want to scare you, if i have i'm sorry,i'd seek out a vets advice.

good luck.........................STEVE

well the wood chip was fairly small and could just fit perfectly in her mouth. she's about 30 inches long and the chip was a little smaller than a dime, like maybe 1 1/2 x the length across the diameter of a pencil eraser

Hi EM

Sounds like you may be ok hun, keep an eye out in its poop and you have my best wishes, good luck..................

Snakemanone.. a dime's about the same size as a 5p coin. (the lil 5p coins, not the big old ones from like before 10 years ago, heh).

I'd say it would also depend on the type of wood too. I've no idea exactly what reptibark is, or whether it's as safe as they claim (it wouldn't be the first time a subtstrate's been worth less than the back it's packaged in - calcisand anyone?), I've had no experience with it.

I feel inclined to say it's PROBABLY ok... but the first sign of any problems, like you don't see poop within 4 or 5 days, or she refuses her next meal, or is normally a real voracious eater and takes real long to bite... I'd get down to a vet straight away.

I think it should be ok too, but like Axe said keep your eyes open.

yeah

I agree.

I think most likely your snake will be fine. I would moniter closely when he is going to the bathroom, how many times and how far and few between. And keep an eye out for this next crap especially, if it comes a few days after eating as it normally would, I think you'll be fine. But keep a closer eye than normal for the next few weeks.

hey thanx guys for replying. ok i thinlk she's gonna be fine. she left me a huge peice of poo in the water bowl, so i was quite relieved (though i would've preffered it to be in the substrate rather than her water). and she's still active and everything. i also just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you, for everyone that's been keeping this forum going. i'm a newbie as a snake owner and this site has been soooo helpful!
