Do fish get thirsty?
I hear from everyone that I should feed my corn frozen when she gets off pinkies. I never did this when I was little and never had any problems. I know the risks of feeding live, but am still not sure what I want to do. You all have corns, so what do you feed? :shrugs:

I am glad you included a "both" option otherwise many of us would have been left out!! I have had snakes that WOULD NOT eat f/t!! Despite my best efforts!! Therefore, I will try to feed frozen first and when that is not an option, I thankfully live close to rep shop :sidestep: The bad thing about that is the fact that rep shops sell snakes too, and when your there every 7-10 days, you know when there is a new arrival

yeah i breed my own too, although since my collection has got stupidly large i have had to buy in too, i just havent got time for 1,000 mice like i used to have

I might try feeding frozen first and see how she does with it. Thanks for the replys.:)

frozen convenience

I want to add that should you decide to go with F/T (reccamended) that you buy in quantity from one of the frozen rodent dealers. Not only will it be cheaper for you in the long term, but as I found out when I got my first snake, petstores don't always have frozen pinks in stock. Apparently they are a hot commodity (at least in Duluth, MN anyway). If you have a good supply of your own, you can stay with the feeding schedule you want and not be at the mercy of availability. Just somthing to think about.

F/T here, with the occasional live (fuzzies and pinks) for the finicky young ones. Once they've graduated to rat pups, I've yet to have a snake refuse F/T.

regards,
jazz

That would be a good idea. I will check my rep store to see if they sell them. I buy my pinkies for $1 right now, so I'm sure the frozen ones won't be much. I'm going to go with F/T if she will eat them. She's a pig, so I imagine she will. This is my first corn that I've owned myself and I don't remember what you do exactly when thawing them. Any pointers?

I just pop them into a ziplock bag, squeeze the air out, and put it in a cup of warm water. After about 5 minutes, I replace the water with more warm stuff, and let sit again. After that, the pinks are thawed! I drop them into the feeding container (which just happens to be the same container the snake were shipped in...still a very small corn) and add the snake!

My corns take to the pinky right away; no scenting, braining, or dancing mice! :grin01:
