Do you keep newborns together?

Joolz68

I'm a Sunlog!
Just a quick question:
How long do you keep the newborn (pippies?) together before they get their own shoebox/tank?

Seeing all the pictures of newly hatched babies got me to wondering...

Do they NEED to stay together for any length of time?

How soon MUST they be separated? Any worries with cannibalism?

Which then leads to: how soon do they take their 1st meal?

Thanks in advance for any answers...

And keep the pictures coming!

Once mine started hatching I put them in individual containers. That way I can ID them properly. I know when each one hatched, even what hour they hatched. I know when each one sheds aswell.

Once they have their first shed they will start to feed on pinkies.

All into separate containers after hatching.

No, they do not ~need~ to stay together for any length of time.

Cannibalism is a possibility. It may not happen, all the time, but it does/can happen... especially with babies.

Some folks offer the first meal right after they all hatch and, others (which seems to be the majority), offer the first meal after each hatchling's first shed.

Do I keep mine together...

Adults, nope... only for love (or lust)
Juvies, nope... can't love

Those photos of entire clutches that you see are usually one of two things. Either the breeder has placed the entire clutch together in order to take a clutch photo, or the breeder actually has a life and doesn't check clutches every few hours to remove any hatchlings that just hatched and what you see is exactly what the breeder found while doing their once daily incubator check.
