I'm considering buying a fogger unit, such as the type manufactured by "Ex-Terra". For those unsure what I'm describing its a small metal unit that you place in shallow water to produce a mist or vapour to keep up humidity levels (and of course to look cool!). Has anyone used one in their vivaria and if so what did you think of the results? :rolleyes:
 
I don't think that the humidity requirements for corns are narrow enough to warrant such a purchase. Ventilation, and water bowl size/placement are sufficient to keep the humidity within the wide range that corns need. :)
 
I know what you are talking about. I'm pretty sure a fogger would keep the humidity level much higher than needed for a corn.
 
If you're main reason on buying one is for it to "look cool" then you might consider buying a reptile that needs a very humid atmosphere. The easiest way to tell if your humidity is way too low, is by examining the next shed. If it's in one piece, your fine.
 
i use one for my boa... it makes the whole viv wet quickly and raises the humidty reallly rapidly... one day the boas viv was at 20% and n 15 mins it was at nearly 90 :|.... so it was a waste of money IMO.. since i have to turn it off after 15 mins and then the tank humidity lowers again...
 
great for amphibians
haven't found a use for any other animal

the ultrasonic frequencies used by foggers to create the fog can be stressful for some animals as well.

I bought one for when I had hallowe'en crabs. I wouldn't use it for my snakes because it can become quite warm.
 
I use an Exo-Terra fogger for my Argentine Horned Frog. Wouldn't use it on my corns, however.
