Does anyone know a good place for live feeder crickets?

I have used BigAppleHerp twice now, and as much as I like that site, it's rather expensive, especially since my crickets are seeming to die twice as fast as I can use them... I have great living conditions for them, and they are still dying. Anyone know any other good places?

Crickets???

What are you feeding crickets to?

I was told the other day, that if a person only keeps a few crickets then they die off very quickly. I was told that I would have to get a bunch in order to be successful in keeping them alive. I only have one reptile that eats them (a leopard gecko) so I don't need to keep a bunch of crickets.

I am not sure of a good place to get them, though.

I own a baby chameleon that eats crickets, fruit flies, and eventually will eat meal worms. My crickets keep dying, and I am ordering them in cases of 500 1/8" crickets at the moment from BigAppleHerp. I have even talked with someone from the company, and he said my conditions were just fine, and yet, they keep dying. It's getting too expensive to keep ordering them online from that site... between the price and the shipping.. I just need to find a cheaper site for crickets.

OH...I like chameleons. They are really cute! I just buy a few crickets at a time from a local pet shop. It may end up being cheaper for you if you can do that. My gecko is a baby and he is already eating mealworms, too. I think that helps because they live longer than the crickets.

Good luck!

Ya, with my chameleon I had before, that was bigger, I bought the crickets at a local pet store, but she was big enough to eat the ones here. I live in a little town (when I am not in school) where there is no selection for feeders, and the ones available are too large. I love my cham, I can't wait for her to be bigger tho, so I am not wasting so much money on tiny dying crickets! hah

I would like to simply state that Corn Snakes do not eat crickets,
in an attempt to throw this thread on topic somehow.
There is a care sheet floating around on the Net that suggests that Corn Snakes eat crickets...thats why I mention it. :)

I used to order Crix from these guys:
http://www.wormman.com/cricket.htm
They usually have good deals...:)

I once ordered a box of 2,000( 5 yrs. ago) of those itsy bitsy 1/8 inch crickets, and when it arrived at my door it was nothing but "quick Cure" dehydrated dead little bugs.
My mailman, now retired, had it all figured out.
When someone gets a priorty rush shipment, that means to also ring the bell , when you pull it off the dash, after lunch at Mcdonalds, and put it in the full sun on ones porch.
I think the "60's" were hard on the guy. ;)

A live arrival guarantee (no matter what the critter) is always a nice perk to look for when "ordering in". imho.

Ya, I had been looking at the Wormman website. That is, by far, the cheapest I have seen for crickets. I was buying from BigAppleHerp, but it got way too expensive... I hope these will be quality crickets =)

wormman.com has 1000 crickets for 15.50 shipped! hah =) lol Just SLIGHTLY cheaper... not sure of the quality, as I have crickets coming in the mail from them for the first time ;)

Oh ok! I was about to get incredibly excited... I need to find wonderful cricket prices, b/c it seems mine keep dying! I hate that!

Triple L reptile...

LLLREPTILE.COM is a good reliable business to order from.
Both Worman and triple L will send out good product, they want you to be happy, it's all about getting that loyal, year in, year out, "repeat clientele" in the very competitive cricket (and mousee) supply business'. :)
