no, it doesnt matter unless you want to breed them. Honestly, It is a personal choice. If you dont care the sex of your snake, then dont get it sexed. However, i really wanted to know the sex of mine for name purposes. But its all up to you
Its not a big deal if you aren't going to breed. I am one of those curious people that needs to know. Using the techniques on Kathy Love's web site its not hard tp pop a snake after I did it the forst time I couldn't believe how easy it is. It's easiest if your first snake is confirmed a male and remember not a lot of pressure they CAN be hurt easily. If you are unsure yourself taking it to a vet or an experienced breeder would be the best and safest way.
Well the only reason I wanted to know was so I could stop calling it Petey lol, but o well i guess, I heard popping isn't the greatest thing, even if you are experienced, and I'm not about to pay 60 plus bux to have it found a different way
Most reptile stores I've been to will probe them for free. At least, in my experience, it's been that way. But probing also isn't safe until they're older.
It's possible. Just call the reptile store, and ask if they can do probing, and how much it would cost. Or find a local breeder. They're more likely to do it for free.
It might save you some worry to know what sex he is so you know what to expect, if he's a male, when he does his first springtime hunger strike. When that happened to me the first time, I didn't know of the phenomenon, and thought my snake was going to die. Now I'm like- great! Don't have to thaw so many mice!
I probe a lot of snakes when I'm at shows. I can't tell you how many times I've been bitten or pooped on in the process! I also do it at the store as long as it's not too busy. I actually have some pet snakes I have never found out the sex of. It just didn't seem to matter to me one way or the other. It doesn't change the way I care for them if they are male or female. At the store when people ask what the sex of a given animal is, sometimes we mess with them and say we don't check because we respect the animal's privacy. That usually gets a quizzical look but it's fun for us. Sad but true.

Your pet stores are a lot nicer than the ones I go too. All of the ones around me charge to sex snakes. BTW my boyfriend told me he thinks LLL reptiles charged less than $5 to sex snakes.
