Does your corn shake its tail....?

Hey there, I was wondering if it was a normal behavior for cornsnakes to shake their tails when they are eating?
I've notice it is like a warning, like saying, "im eating, leave me alone and I wont bite".

I am not worried, just find it curious, it sounds like a faint rattle when shes on bark bedding

have you ever experience this?

Yes, it's quite common. Sometimes they do it while eating, other times they do it when you touch them or go to pick them up. Sometimes they rattle as a warning before a bite.

I love it when they do that. It's very common in a lot of species of snake. I saw a cottonmouth doing it, once. Your interpretation is correct.

Yep quite a few of my kids do it. Even my most sweetest ones will rattle in their feeding tub. I laugh almost every time.

Most of my hatchlings do rattle. And a couple adults. Usually when it's feeding time. It's funny. Trying to be so intimidating :nyah:

Oh yea. At a reptile shop I asked to see what baby corns they had. The guy brought out one that was about to shed by the looks of the blue eyes. It just looked up and shook its tail a little which I took as a "don't bother me right now" sign. It was cool to see a snake in "blue" for the first time though.

Augie does it too. That was part of the reason we found him at reptile rescue. I think it is cute. Just give him a few minutes and he is find to pick up and replace in his viv.

I have the teeny-tiniest baby hypo orchid that does it. He is a total sweetheart but rattles at all of his pinkies, sometimes while eating them. I will have to try to catch it on video, but of course if I do that he'll probably stop!

One of my two do it. Of course it's the smaller, and less intimidating looking of the pair.

He usually does it when going to be handled. Though, he has not done it as much as of late. More so when he was a hatchling. Pretty common from my understanding here.

One of ours is a snow named Flurry. My daughter chose that name in part as a pun on "fury" because of how furiously the little worm rattled her tail at us we we first got her.

Quite common in hatchlings. Most of them seem to outgrow it.

Oh my yes, Gracie rattles her tail with a fury every time she is put in her feeding box. She even rattles while she is eating, its like she's afraid we'll take her food away from her. once she's finished eating her rattle stops and we know she's ready to go back in her viv.

Lorna (my okeetee) is a little witch after feeding. You can take her out of her habitat with no issues. When she is in her feeding bin she is feisty. We have to use a hook to her out. Once she is in your hands again she is fine. I see all of these full grown okeetees I can't wait!
