i dont know, this might sound like a weird question, but for some reason my corn always wants to bite the mouse's leg when he eats it. i've heard some people say that your snake should eat headfirst. also, he's currently eating 2 pinkies once a week, should i change it to 1 fuzzy?

Ah... you have what is fondly referred to as a "buttmunch" on your hands.
From what I understand (and have seen) a snake will take an initial bite of the prey item in the middle, then work it's way to the end of the mouse. Headfirst is the 'norm' but many snakes will eat their prey the wrong way at times. Nothing to worry about.
If your snake has been eating two pinks, I would move up to a fuzzy. I'm sure there are those that disagree, but maybe a 6-day feeding schedule would be better.

i agree with jenni - it's nothing to worry about! at first, i freaked out when my little guy attempted to eat his pinkies butt-first, but he handled it. i just bumped him up to fuzzies. that has been a whole new adventure. :bang:

im exactly the same as thingy ma bob my snake eats bum first lol.

Glad I saw this post before I posted the same question. :laugh:
Spessartine has been eating his pinks butt first too. I haven't been too worried about it since it didn't seem to cause any problems for him. That & I'm just happy to see him eat since everything I've read says they should eat every five days or so & he's only been willing to eat about every eight days.
Curiosity got the best of me though, so I came here to see what others had to say about the butt first thing.

I've got a bunch muncher too. I finally was able to see her eat this week and last week. The other times I just chucked the mice in and didn't stick around to watch. Both times, she ate the first pink butt first. I didn't watch her eat the second ones, but she probably butt munched them too. She looks too me like she is too small for a fuzzy, but if she's handling too pinks alright, I guess I should move her up?

my young one is a buttmuncher too. ate his first one the right way, and every one after that bassackwards. funny to watch, specially at the end when you have a little mouse head sticking out of a snake mouth lol :grin01:
