I just moved from California, where their stealing dogs left and right. But now that im back in Virginia, more and more people are stealing dogs. Most have been pitbulls, my asumption is to get them for fighting. But their also stealing other breeds, this purpose im assuming are bait dogs. Im sure this issue is everywhere, and it truely sickens me. What really amazes me is that they dont have the balls to do it in front of the owner. All i have to say is they will be meeting the end of barrel of a 12g and a 38 special if they try to steal my mutts. Yes they are mutts, both german shepard cross's. I would just like to make people aware that dog theives are showing up everywhere, and it's getting more popular to steal them than purchase them. So if you see someone stealing your dog, exercise your right to arms :madeuce:
:santa:

Yes, living in Baltimore City this is a big concern for us as well. I usually stand at the door while the dogs are out in the yard. I would not want anything to happen to them.

To be honest, though, the biggest reason I stand at the door is the little alley rats (i.e. unsupervised redneck children) who run the streets all day and night. I trust them about as far as I could throw one, which is not too far. They threw a baby duck in our yard earlier this summer and one of the whippets killed it, and I've seen them heading towards the gate when I am standing there. They look at me and back off. It really tries my limited patience.

Wow, I would certainly exercise that amendment too! Someone stole a Chihuahua out of a car at the local store, so I always lock up if I leave them in the car, even for just a minute.
Lauren, that is terrible you feel like you have to literally watch your yard, I hate that people do such terrible things.

Pleas don't leave your dogs locked in the car, even for a few minutes. I'm sure you know how hot a car can get in a very short time in the summer. I loved to take my dog with me where ever I went but would never take her in the summer because I could never be sure how long I'd be away from the car.

I do not leave my dogs unattened in my back yard not even for a moment. People are cruel, if they don't torture them.
