Double clutch question....

again23

Resistance is futile
One of my females snows just laid 26 eggs today. I wanted to try and get her to produce a fertile 2nd clutch this year. Every year she double clutchs but i never put her back with a male after she lays the 1st clutch. so my question....

if she laid the 1st clutch today.. when should i put her in with a male?

The most important thing to keep in mind is the female's health. I feed my females small meals every day after she lays. After the post- lay shed i stick the female in the males cage. If he doesnt show interest right away the female gets taken out and resumes small daily feeding for a few more days unitl she looks healthy agian. I then re-introduce a few more times to make sure the breeding is complete. It is not the same for everyone and you need to make sure the female looks good going into a double clutch. Just the breeding part can be stressful on a female that isnt up to par yet.
