Double Fuzzies

spud

Need more Corns
Does anybody feed there corns double fuzzies. I ask as the pet shop that i currently get my mice from don't have hoppers and the next up are weanling sized and i don't think my corn would be able to manage them. So should i keep her on a single fuzzy until she gets big enough for the weanling sized mice or just substitute the hopper for 2 fuzzies. Last weight check she was 54g, but she has had 2 more feeds since then so is probably a bit bigger.

I would recommend weighing the fuzzies first. They can range anywhere from 5-9g, so doubling these could reach a potential 18g, which could be a bit much. You could also feed a fuzzy and a large pinkie, I suppose. Hoppers range from 9-12g, so if you can a fuzzy around the 9g range, I would just feed one of those every 6-7 days and she'll be up to the next size in no time. I think it's always advisable to feed just one prey item at a feeding instead of multiples whenever possible. :}

Have you considered ordering frozen mice online? There are lots of good mice sellers that advertise on this site like Mice Direct, The Big Cheese, etc... that people have had good experiences with. With an online seller, you buy in packages of 25, 50, or 100 depending on the size of the mouse, and pay something like $0.13 a mouse. Not sure that that'd be in pounds or €, but I assume even cheaper. There are several UK users here and I'm sure they know of either the best price in pounds or euros to be found online, or a UK shipper. Ask around

Well the fuzzies at the moment are all around 6/7g. Ordering online is a bit of a pain due to having only one snake and therefore only needing a small number of mice, the mice are cheaper than my local petshop but when shipping is added it works out to be more expensive. Which is why i need more snakes lol. I think i will just stick with one fuzzy for now and then keep an eye on her weight and how long she has a lump after feeding.

Anthony if you order a big enough order and guestimate that your snake will be on a particular size of mice for about 3 months, until it reaches adult size you could then make the order well worth the shipping, then just use a vaccuum sealer and package the mice in groups of 5-8 and they will last 2-3 yrs in the freezer and you will have all the mice you need for the next 2-3 yrs for your snake in one order. If your snake is ready for the next size before you use the last size all up, then you can double them up(just check weights).

I did that here(Canada) and after paying for the mice, shipping and a roll of vaccuum sealing bags I still saved over $700. Just a thought.
