Ok, tonight marks the 66th day after my ghost corn laid her eggs. I have kept the temperature FAIRLY cosistently at 82 degrees (plus or minus a degree or two for short periods.) The eggs look healthy, like they are going to explode. I candled, and it looked like the darker portion, which i figured was they actual snake, only took up maybe a fifth of the inside of the egg. There were definite strong red veins through out the egg. I guess my question is, is this all normal, and how long should i wait before i start being concerned about losing the clutch? (Its my first, and im feeling like a papa freaking out the day of or something.) Thanks

Have they hatched, yet???

Hello. I'm new to this cornsnake thing, too. I didn't answer before because I don't know the answer to your question. I do want to know how things are going, however!!! I have 27 eggs in my incubator right now, so maybe your experience will be helpful to me, too!

I'm currently on Day 62 for my first clutch which has been kept at 82 degrees. Should happen in the next week for me and I can't wait.

Don't know if it's relevant, but my local reptile dealer says that his Corn eggs (incubated at 86 degrees) are taking between three and six weeks longer to hatch this year than usual. He reckons its something to do with the breeding/laying season starting late this year, but I don't know whether this was just in the UK. Or he could just have a dodgy thermostat !

I'd say as long as the eggs look good, they are good. Incubating temps sound fine.

Good luck !
Kel

no rush

Hi all.

Listen, i've heard and read that incubation can take 90 days and longer and so IMHO be patient, i have eggs myself so i know its easier said than done.;)
