Eating time

I feed my amel in a seperate feeding box. I put her in and put in the frozen/thawed mouse, and when she's done, I put her back in her viv in her warm hider cave. I feed my Aztec on paper in her viv because she's too shy to feed out of it. I may try feeding her in the feeder box next time as she seems to have calmed quite a bit over the last few months.

Same here. We feed our critters in separate feeding boxes to prevent them from swallowing any of their Repti-Bark substrate. We thaw the mice out in a cup of very warm water, dry them with a paper towel, place them in the feed boxes and then place the snakes in the boxes too. Bada-bing-bada-boom- five minutes later we have snakes with full bellies. :p

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your feeding!

Cheers,
Jason

well i thaw mine out in warm water, and give it to all of them in their viv's, they dont get taken out, only if im holding them or bathing them. they dont swallow any of their substrate and i hold the mouse by its tail and the snake strikes at it, and starts eating it right away, head first, and i keep hold of the tail till the snakes nearly at the end, then i let go. however my 2nd eldest female i cant do that, she gets fed on top of her log and shes a vicious eater. lol

Jason,

Why dry the mouse? Seems to slide down easier wet....

Hmm, you may be right. I guess we must have read it somewhere because it's what we've always done. We don't really dry them, we just dab them with a paper towel on the way to the feed box.

Although... when we have a snake that's a poor eater, we like to fluff and tease the mouse fur with a tiny hairbrush and style it with a blow dryer prior to feeding it to our snakes. Presentation is everything when it comes to a meal- didn't you know?

Cheers,
Jason
