Egg bound?? Time to aspirate??

My snow girl laid 11 healthy eggs and one slug overnight- not sure what time. I noticed them at 6 am. She has been out of her box now for four hours with a lot of swelling around her vent. I feel 7 eggs all smushed up together. I place her in the box, she gets out. I soaked her in water and she pooped but eggs didn't move. Worried now! How long should I give her before I aspirate? Will post pics as soon as I can get to a computer

I think I'd wait 8-12 hours??? Then I might see if I could ease it out using the probe method. I'd also get other opinions. Actually, if it was me, I'd be on the Kathy Love hotline!!

I would leave her alone for a complete 24 to 48 hours. No checking or bothering her at all. Putting her in and out of the box is more than likely stressing her out.

Is it normal when their laying for the eggs to be in one big round mass at the vent? That's what scares me because it LOOKS jammed up

Ive never seen one laying- always found the eggs after they were done- but it looks like she has a ball at her vent

Pictures would probably help. I am no expert by any means. All I know is everyone always told me to leave them be. If it is bigger than a golf ball size, I would probably be worried.

Personally, through bitter experience when I disturbed my first-ever laying female, I'd say leave her alone. Turn the whole tub/bin/viv into a laybox with whatever substrate you use, put in a water bowl and let her be to lay the eggs herself for at least 24 hours.

I covered her cage with a towel and left her be. Part of why I am so worried is that I had no idea she was pregnant! I bred her 4 months ago, and when she didn't lay, I assumed that she didn't take. She must have retained sperm :( I wish I hadnt handled her at all now but I was so concerned when I saw her stretched out like that (see pic)

I also fed her wednesday and she regurgitated this AM

That's what my girl looked like. I'd give her another day, then do the probe method! That was easy.

If you have to the probe method works pretty well -fingers crossed everything goes smoothly & she lays the rest of them for you though :)

No change :( I'm going to try the probe method soon- does anyone have a link to a video or instructions? Am I just attempting to loosen it, or actually withdraw it?

I used a probe and gentle pressure and was able to extract the three eggs that were all bunched up at her vent. She was really, really unhappy. There was some blood but not a lot. When I placed her back in she went straight for her hide. There still appears to be 4 left so I am going to give her some more time alone to lay the last four. Fingers crossed! She's a trooper!

The last four were in a line and farther back. I massaged them a bit lower but didn't want to pop them all out unless absolutely necessary- but I will if she doesn't lay them on her own!

I would just leave her alone for now- see what she looks like this evening. Glad you were able to get the stuck egg out!

congrats on getting it out :) hopefully she can help you out by moving them down on her own now,my girl was able to help me out that way..had 2 higher up she brought down after a while.

She laid two on her own this afternoon, which I think means she has just two left. The last ones I think are slugs- they are big and white but are really wet and squishy. Fingers crossed she has them over night and can take a well deserved rest and food!

While this timeline may go against what many suggest, my Lavender female started laying Thursday night and the majority of her clutch was out by Friday. She obviously had 5 left in her, 2 at what would be 50% of her body length and 2 1/3 up from her tail. She showed no obvious effort towards laying in the hours that followed, but as I checked on her periodically, she was making slow but sure progress attempting to deliver. She has delivered one egg per day on her own since without any assistance. I believe she has one left.

Had this happened and I saw absolutely no progress being made, I almost certainly would have aspirated, but this girl just seems to be a slow worker on the last few.

Actually, Dale, that's what many people prefer to do, just wait, as long as there is no obvious stuck huge egg.
