My female laid 12 eggs over a six day span. I ended up aspirating the last two. She passed both shells and is eating. My question is the eggs looked good at first. Now are turning yellow and slick looking. I never could see veins when I candled them. Are they bad? Should I keep trying? They are plump. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
 
It doesn't hurt to incubate them as long as you want.

I have never successfully candled an egg. I have hatched babies out of mold. I have incubated virgin slugs for 100 days before giving up, because everyone here was saying it was parthenogenesis!
 
Last year I had a crested egg that I swore up and down was a dud, but tossed it into the incubator anyway. It molded, but two days after it molded, it hatched. Quinoa was a great looking little baby too - great structure and pattern. I try not to give up on any iffy eggs now. :)
 
Thanks for the replies! I'll hang in there and hope for the best. I'm glad to know that others haven't been able to candle them either. Thanks again!
 
Sometimes all you can see is a tiny red dot in fresh eggs, don't give up, it can be hard to see. The slick yellow part is what worries me. But sometimes they get wet looking "windows." What would it hurt to just try is all I'm saying.
