EGGBOUND?

KatiesSnakes
Hello, it has been 28 hours and my female has laid 13 eggs, appears to have 5 more inside. They are far up and nowhere near the vent. When do I begin to worry?

Its been well over 48 hrs since the beginning, in fact about 60 hrs. She's laid 13 eggs and 1 slug. There are 4 more lumps, however they're about 4 in from the vent.

At this point I would aspirate the egg closest to the vent. If you don't feel confident enough to do it, take the snake to a herp vet and have it done.

I tried feeding a hopper mouse in the hopes of moving said "lumps" down, to no avail. She left the eggbox also as if she believes she's done. The lumps are soft, not hard. Not sure, but I am guessing they are not yet hardened slugs, since the last one to come out appears to be a slug, no veins when candled, yet *pretty* enough I went ahead and put it in the oncubator anyway... How do I asperate with the eggs so far away from the vent?

Same way you would with the eggs near the vent. If you look at that other thread that was linked here earlier, there was a video posted showing you how to do it. It's not very hard. Or like stated in that thread, you could always contact Kathy Love and she will walk you through the procedure.

If it were my snake I would be concerned, you don't want it escalating to the point where the snake needs surgery to get out the stuck eggs.

In the meantime, I would give her a swim in your bathtub (make sure you rinse out any chemicals that may be lingering in the tub) and see if the movement might stimulate her to lay the rest overnight.
