hi there, not realy new to the forum as i have been a browser not a poster.......anyway i picked up a new snow girl a couple of weeks back and yesterday to my surprise she laid a clutch of 11 what looked to be very good fertile eggs, all were brilliant white. This morning however they have taken a rather yellowish color and some have started to harden.

I take it they are infertile?
she hasn't met any of my boys yet as i was letting her settle in, im assuming whoever 'did the deed' didnt get it quite right when he met her..... or can females produce eggs but lay instead of reabsorbing them?

im not really fussed as this is a surprise but it is nice to know that i have a female that will produce eggs for me.... my two other girls really dont pay any attention to boys (Have probed them all to confirm the sexes)

any help is greatly appreciated

Yep, females can lay full clutches of infertile eggs, even if they've never been mated. It's more usual for them to be reabsorbed without laying, but it does happen.

However, brilliant white eggs when laid sound fertile - generally infertile eggs are sort of yellowish and waxy to start with. How have you been incubating them?

As for the female, she'll need a little TLC. Just treat her as though she'd layed a normal clutch of eggs - maybe increase feeds slightly until she's regained her pre-lay body weight. Also watch out for her post-lay shed.

incubated in a poly box... eggs in moist vermiculite.... temp about 27-30 celcius.... humidity around 80-100% same way its been for other eggs without problems
