Escaped corn

I thought this was the best place to put this thread. Felt I had to share my experience this morning. My husband screams at me from the other end of the house "Get in here I need you now" so of course I instantly panic. By the time I get into our reptile room all manner of terror has gone through my mind. When I see where he is, a worst case scenario is confirmed. He left the lid off of one of our corn snakes tanks last night and she is of course nowhere to be seen. We instantly shut the door again and begin scouring the room, ripping everything apart. Both of us are practically in tears. We are both teachers and cannot afford to take a day off to continue the search. I say she might have even left the room, she is small enough to fit under the door. We have 2 dogs so even more panic at the thought. He runs from the room into the guest bedroom next door. And I hear an expletive and an exhale. There she is, sprawled across the middle of the floor, just chilling, looking up at us like "oh you found me! I was just about to hide again". She looked so serene and calm lol. So we held her for a second, cooing over her the whole time and praising god for help finding her. It was such a relief, almost like she knew not to go far and she would be found. I have heard all manners of horror stories about escaped corns not being found ever again. Needless to say we will triple check every night that our babies are tucked and locked in. Just had to share! Thanks all!

Phew! Just posted a very similar story! My new baby platinum decided to escape on her very first night at home. It's really scary isn't it! Glad it turned out so well for all of us!

It is! You feel so much guilt and fear! I'm just very glad she didnt travel far. I felt so bad for my hubby, he was blaming himself (course it was his fault lol). Glad yours made it home too
