Hello, my corn snake got loose. I did not put the top of her aquarium on correctly. Does anyone have any tips on how I can find her? She is approximately 3 years old and is about 5 feet in length. PLEASE HELP!!!
You can look in any dark area, behind books, under pillows, etc.
I've heard that laying down tape along the floor boards will snag them- just use caution if you have any other pets. You could also thaw out a mouse and leave it in an empty coke bottle, she may enter the hole, eat the mouse, and be unable to get back out. Good luck!
lay out a hot spot, you can put a heat lamp out, and it may decide to soak up some heat, and to even better your odds, put an F/T under the lamp, thawed of course. you can also lay newspaper down on the entire floor, that way if the snake goes over it you will hear the crinkling of the paper
I have heard you can sprinkle flour on the flood to have a record of where they are wondering, you will see the tracks. They tend to travel more along the edges of rooms. Don't forget that snakes can climb up to find a good hide. I have heard of two or three snakes found up in bookshelves behind books.
I found my roommates escaped baby ball python exploring the base of the big screen TV up on it's stand.
I had one of my boas (the one in my avatar, in fact) escape a few years back. She was around 4 feet long at the time. I found her inside the sleeve of a coat. They're odd critters. Just keep your eyes out for anything out of place, and listen for a hiss if you get too close without seeing her!
Thank you, All of you! Ive been searching for him for about 3 months and was close to losing hope, but then, after my grandma took a bath, apprxoimately 15 minutes later I had to go to the bathroom, and I saw him drapped over the knobs in the tub, most likely looking for water!!!! I was so happy and relieved that I found him!! But now I have a NEW challenge and I could use more tips....I got a female...and shes expected to lay eggs sometime in June...Any usefull tips in this category as well? Thanks
