Hi all. I'm new to being a snake owner, only had my very first corn for about a month. If that, to be honest! She's been absolutely wonderful. A cuddlebug to end all cuddlebugs, and so great with her behavior. A perfect starter snake.

However, I think I may have doomed her.

Her viv is kept in my room....which is where my dog stays during the day/night, as well. Last night, I held my girl for about an hour, got tired and went ahead and put her back in. I must not have closed her lid correctly (I was doing so good, too!) and she escaped. I'm not sure if she escaped during the night, or during the day while I was at work. Buuuut....My dog was out and loose with her all day/night, since she doesn't need a crate anymore.

I don't think she could have gotten beneath my door crack, but I do have two holes that she might have been able to fit into that are in the wall. There's another large opening, but it's blocked in by 4x4s. I'm so worried she wasn't sneaky enough and Loki had a snack. I didn't find any remains, but Loki can be pretty...huntery and hungry.

I've read about what to do, put her viv on the ground, put a plastic tubeware with her heat pad, put some flour on the cracks of the doors, etc.

But ohman. I can't get over the fear that she was a snack. I don't see any bites or such on Loki, or any sign of a struggle. But.

Sorry for this being my first post, but I had to share my fears with someone!

Do you think it's possible Loki gulped her up before she could find somewhere to hide?

Possible, sure. But not likely. Blue painters tape (not green, not white) is your friend right now. I wish you luck!

I understand the feeling :( We lost our snake a few weeks back. I let her out for a slither, and I was even following her on my hands and knees! She turned a corner and went right under a pocket door! By the time we manage to get the pocket door out, she's gone! We poked and prodded, there's gaps going into the walls, and we suspect that's where she went. We taped, set traps, nothing :(

I contacted the breeder, he said there's 50-50 chance a lost snake can wonder back, he had lost snakes for weeks and emerging later. Alas, nothing from our snake yet. Good luck and hope you find your little one.

My guess is as good as anyone's, but I think if your dog attacked the snake there would be signs of a struggle. Hope she comes back. Let us know if you see any signs of her!

Are you sure the snake got out? A couple weeks ago I thought ours was out (and we have cats) and was so worried and then I read the sticky about escapee or hide log horrors. And mine situation was a hide log. I had no idea there was a hole in it and sure enough there she was. And we had left the cage open on the floor all day so we could have caused her to escape if she could have gotten out of the log.

Anyways, worth a try because I thought no way, there arent any holes in my log but reading post after post I thought I'd better check.
Good luck!
